Great design is an act of respect
It is how you tell someone you thought about them before they ever arrived. For us that is the work itself, not the polish on top.
Friction is a decision
Every extra step and every confusing label was chosen by someone, even if nobody meant to. It costs a person time they never volunteered. We would rather spend ours than theirs.
Design for a person, not a persona
Someone real, mid-task, with four other things waiting on them. Liking that person, and wanting things to go well for them, is not a soft skill. It is where the work starts.
Small things compound
A form that does not fight back. A result that arrives when you expected it. Nothing here is dramatic on its own. It is the difference between a tool people tolerate and one they reach for.
Design is the part of our products we are slowest to call finished. When Astrid, our bookkeeping product, is not sure about a receipt, it waits for a person rather than guessing. Slower is the cheaper mistake.
